Idea: Advent Walk
Submitted by: Rev. Damian MacPherson, SA, Director for Ecumenical and Interfaith Affairs, Archdiocese, Toronto, Canada
Ecumenical events can be planned at any time of the year, not just during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. For example, the Advent Walk is something I used to do when I served in a parish which had several different communities within walking distance. We would gather at one church and then sing hymns or carols as we walked from church to church. At each church we would go in, say a prayer and then continue onto the next. At the last church on our route, we planned an hour or so of fellowship following the walk. It was a wonderful way to get know our neighbors and to celebrate our faith together. In addition it is a wonderful family event.
